The Lunelock standard: what an overnight rod needs
A heatless set is only as good as the tool that holds the hair while it sets. These are the properties that matter, and how the Lunelock rods answer each of them.
- Diameter sets the shape. The thickness of the rod decides the size of the wave: a thin roller makes a tight curl, a thick one makes a looser, bouncier wave. The Blowout Rod Set uses jumbo rods 1.4 in (3.5 cm) thick for blowout-style volume.
- A surface that grips gently. Hair has to stay where it is wrapped without being pulled. The rods have a velvet-soft cover that holds each section in place, and the matching satin scarf goes on top, where a smooth surface is what you want.
- Soft enough to sleep on. Everything happens overnight, so the rod has to be comfortable against your head. The foam core of each rod stays soft under your head and your pillow.
- Coverage of the whole head. One roll on top and one on each side cover the head in three sections, which is why the set has three rods, each 10.6 in (27 cm) long. For one long, continuous wave pattern, the Classic Curling Rod does the same job with a single 59 in rod.
- Hold until morning. A set works when the shape is held until the hair is completely dry. The satin scarf tied over the three rolls helps keep them in place while you sleep.
